Plus d'ici in our cafeterias in the Antoine-Labelle RCM

Context

The Stratégie nationale d'achat d'aliments québécois (SNAAQ), implemented by the provincial government, calls on every institution to set up local food procurement targets. The Plan de développement de la zone agricole (PDZA) of the Antoine-Labelle RCM confirms the community's desire to improve food security and self-sufficiency by multiplying development opportunities for the agri-food sector. A number of players in the RCM are already working to increase the proportion of local foods on institutional menus. This project will contribute to this movement by supporting the emergence of creative solutions so that public, private and not-for-profit institutions (such as childcare centers) can set themselves a target (if they haven't already done so), reach it and even exceed it.

Project objective

In order to increase the share of local food in public and private institutions in the Antoine-Labelle RCM, the following steps will be taken: 1) Creation of an inventory of public and private institutions with food services, and assessment of demand; 2) Distribution of an interest survey to producers, processors and distributors in the Antoine-Labelle RCM regarding the institutional market; 3) Creation of a guide to regional (Laurentides) and provincial brands by product category (inspired by the guide produced for Centre-du-Québec); 4) Identification of issues and opportunities related to the institutional supply of local products in the RCM; 5) Organization of an event to promote inter-knowledge and networking between players in the institutional supply chain; 6) Co-construction of a concerted territorial strategy to encourage players to commit to structuring actions.
