Towards an Agri-Food Socio-Professional Pathway for Young Adults with Disabilities in the Arthabaska RCM

Context

The lack of continuity in socio-professional integration services for young adults with employment limitations can significantly hinder their ability to secure and maintain employment. This, in turn, has negative consequences, particularly on their financial independence. Over the past three years, the Ausiris project, led by CISA, has successfully united various stakeholders from the Arthabaska RCM and surrounding areas with a shared goal: to collaborate as a network to establish a training and assessment environment for young adults with disabilities at the National Institute of Organic Agriculture (INAB).

While the first phase of the project initially focused on identifying the elements that facilitate the short- and medium-term socio-professional integration of young autistic adults in an agri-food context, this second phase broadens its scope to include individuals with diverse limitations (autism, mild intellectual disabilities, dyspraxia, and dysphasia).

Project Objectives

The project primarily aims to develop a socio-professional pathway in the agri-food sector for young adults with employment limitations in the Arthabaska RCM and surrounding areas.

More specifically, the objectives are to test, document, evaluate, and synthesize the implementation of:

  1. A local socio-professional hub in the Arthabaska RCM.
  2. An adapted training and work environment (ATWE) in the agri-food sector, situated within a post-secondary institutional context at INAB.

Through this project, we also aim to support the development of socio-professional integration practices from an intersectoral and inclusive perspective, particularly within post-secondary institutions.

Finally, the initiative seeks to identify and ultimately establish the conditions necessary to sustain socio-professional hubs and ATWEs. This will culminate in the development of a strategy and a transfer plan for implementation by a lead organization.
