Enhancing the availability of organic dairy products in public institutions across Quebec

Context

The organic milk sector has been grappling with overproduction for several years. As a result, organic milk producers are actively seeking new outlets and hope to capitalize on the growing demand for Quebec products, particularly through the momentum generated by the "Stratégie nationale d'achat d'aliments québécois (SNAAQ)." This initiative builds upon the "Plus d'ici dans nos cafétérias" project, set to take place from 2021 to 2024 in the Arthabaska MRC (Centre-du-Québec region), which has enhanced the visibility of regional food offerings within various public institutions and private organizations in the area.

Project Objective

Using a co-construction approach, the project aims to: 1) mobilize stakeholders involved in Quebec's institutional supply chain (including producers, processors, distributors, and institutions); 2) identify and implement strategic sector actions; and 3) significantly increase the proportion of Quebec organic dairy products in the institutional market.

More specifically, this project will provide an opportunity to address the unique challenges and opportunities related to the institutional supply of organic dairy products, identify and leverage key strategic resources, and develop an awareness tool aimed at institutional food services.
