Context
Since 2021, the Town of Contrecœur has been pursuing its goal of becoming a nurturing and innovative community, leading to the development of its first Nurturing Community Development Plan (Plan de développement d’une communauté nourricière - PDCN). In support of this vision, the municipality intends to establish a metropolitan agricultural park on its territory: a multifunctional protected area dedicated to various agri‑food uses. This project constitutes the first step in equipping the community with infrastructure designed for their needs and the local context.
Project Objectives
The project will help Contrecœur clarify the concept of a metropolitan agricultural park, identify community expectations and needs, and draft a first model that reflects local needs. It will involve documenting similar initiatives and working in collaboration with regional partners.
Completing this initial step demonstrates Contrecœur’s intention to become one of the first municipalities in Québec to establish this type of agricultural park.
