Evaluation of the risks and impacts of a socio-climatic crisis on food security in the Lotbinière and Appalaches Regional County Municipalities and the development of a mitigation plan.

Context

Recognizing the impacts of the pandemic on organizations, beneficiaries, and the general public, the community development corporations (CDCs) in the Appalaches and Lotbinière RCMs aim to better prepare their members for potential socio-climatic crises. This project will be implemented in collaboration with community organizations in the target areas, as well as with municipal stakeholders and those involved in health and social services. By addressing the issue from a food security perspective, we will assess the risks in the area and identify appropriate mitigation measures.

Project Objective

The project aims to enhance the resilience of organizations in the target areas in delivering food security services amidst the challenges posed by climate change. By the end of the project, these organizations will have a clearer understanding of associated risks, and defined mitigation measures will be in place. The new connections established during the project will help sustain community services for the residents of Lotbinière and Appalaches, even in the face of a socio-climatic crisis.
