Evaluation of the Risks and Impacts of a Socio-Climatic Crisis on Food Security in the Lotbinière and Appalaches Regional County Municipalities and the Development of a Mitigation Plan

Context

Aware of the disruptions caused by the pandemic for community organizations, their beneficiaries, and the wider population, the community development corporations (CDCs) of the des Appalaches and Lotbinière RCMs want to help their members be better prepared in the likely event of a socio-climatic crisis. This project will be carried out in collaboration with local community organizations, as well as with municipal actors and stakeholders in health and social services. By focusing on food security, the project will evaluate risks across these regions and identify mitigation measures to help address them.

Project Objective

The project aims to strengthen the resilience of organizations in the target regions, especially in maintaining food security services in the face of climate change. By the end of the project, the risks related to a potential crisis will be better understood, and mitigation measures will be defined. The new partnerships and networks developed throughout the process will help ensure that community services continue to be delivered to the populations of Lotbinière and des Appalaches—even in the event of a socio-climatic crisis.
