Support for the development and implementation of the Québec Agglomeration’s Agricultural and Agri-Food Policy

Context

Over the past decade, the Québec agglomeration has adopted two major sectoral planning frameworks in the agricultural and agri-food sectors, both of which will reach the end of their term in December 2025.

In light of challenges such as climate change, access to healthy and affordable food, food waste, and the long-term viability of agricultural and agri-food businesses—particularly those led by the next generation—the City of Québec wishes to continue its structuring efforts. Accordingly, it seeks to develop a new planning framework based on an integrated vision inspired by the principles of sustainable food systems, encompassing activities in urban, peri-urban, and agricultural areas alike.

Objectives

The objective of this project is to coordinate, in collaboration with a City-led steering committee, a process aimed at equipping the Québec agglomeration with an agricultural and agri-food policy for the 2026–2035 period.
