Design of a Northern Agri-Food Laboratory Integrating Social and Technological Innovation

Context

The Northern Agri‑Food Laboratory focuses on food and health issues identified by northern communities in Québec. Coordinated by the Centre for Social Innovation in Agriculture (CISA), with partners including CETAB+ and École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS), it will run for two years and bring together about 20 partners—community organizations as well as education and health actors from Eeyou‑Istchee Baie‑James, Côte‑Nord, and Nunavik (see the list below).

Project Objectives

The goal is to support local agri‑food initiatives by collaborating to assess community needs and test solutions. This action research project puts communities at the centre, strengthening learning and ownership of challenges.

Ultimately, it aims to create a network of actors capable of autonomously co‑creating and sharing knowledge and practices adapted to northern agri‑food systems.
